I offer all my charts in both .pdf and .saga format.

.pdf format charts

.pdf format can be read in any pdf reader.

It can also be printed off on your printer to obtain a workable paper pattern.

It cannot be used to reproduce multiple charts or passed around.

.saga format charts

saga format can only be read in the Cross Stitch Saga app

It is available in both the Apple and Google Play stores.

It is a fully functional interactive app ~ a real game changer !!

My honest personal endorsement

Pattern Keeper will be a wonderful app if the developer can get it to do what she claims it will do. However, I have seen nothing but "it works .... oops, there is a glitch ... here is a patch that will fix this ... it now works ...  wait, there is another glitch". Customer service is practically non existent except to a handful of "suggested designers". Instead of dealing with the issues that arise because this is not a fully developed app, they refer you to the designer to make their charts compatible. If the designer is offering the chart in .pdf format, they should be compatible with ANY app/program that requires that format. The designer has no control over the app not functioning properly and such issues should be directed to the creator of the app or to those troubleshooting for the app.

After several years of this, I gave up on Pattern Keeper ever working properly with Professional cross stitch software (as a source program for charts) and only seems to fully support cross stitch programs that are free on the net and/or are bought at a low price and produce charts "for personal use only". I prefer to use Professional software as it is not limited in what functions you can do (ie. backstitching using several colours, french knots etc) I hear that it takes forever to load a chart in PK, and even then one has to cross their fingers that there aren't too many issues to deal with before one can start stitching. Issues are fixed, only to hear of another issue the following week. The only thing that seems to work well is the "reader" which consists of a scanned copy that does not interact. I cannot justify paying approx $10 for an app that is only reliable as a reader when pdf readers come free with your computer or device. I would rather pay twice the price for something that is completely reliable and allows you to interact and spend more time stitching and less time fussing with it. Saga will work 100% of the time as long as you have charts created in .xsd, .pat or .xsp formats.

Cross Stitch Saga is the game changer that Pattern Keeper hopes to one day be. Saga loads within seconds, opens without issues and not only is interactible, but has no issues with gridding, dropping symbols or numbers etc that have plagued PK . You never have to cross your fingers that it will work as it works well every time. It also keeps a history of your stitching for each chart and it can read and interact with charts that have backstitching, half and quarter stitches, french knots, long stitches, specialty stitches and beads (all things that PK cannot offer). You do not have to fidget with the app to get it to work and waste valuable stitching time. My stitching has increased tremendously in the short time that I have been using the app.

.saga format can only be read in the saga app that is downloaded from dropbox. Ask your favourite designer to consider this format. They may already be using the software that works in Saga. Cross Stitch Saga has excellent customer service and has thousands of endorsements from satisfied customers. Saga is also available both through Google Play and the Apple App Store.

27 June 2021 Update ~

The issues with Pattern Keeper continue, and I have seen posts of frustration over these issues. Fortunately, there are other apps now on the market with rumours of more to come for both Google and Apple. I have had the opportunity to check some of these out. Although I still prefer Cross Stitch Saga over any pdf reader or interacting app, Mark-Up R-XP is a new app that functions much better and has superior customer service. With a 30 day free trial, I would recommend this app as #1 if you prefer a marking app that reads pdf charts. I offer my charts in both formats so that you can chose which app/chart would suit your needs better.
